about the artist: janis m. blayen paul
artist's statement
My Architectural training informs my vision and my creative process, using symbiology and iconography to TELL A STORY AND inspire THE viewer.
The study of architecture and art history led me to the oldest form of representational art : stone carving.
Stone is my preferred medium: for me, it symbolizes a state of permanence in an ever-changing world.
,
Stone carving provides an outlet for my artistic passion, A MEANS OF CREATIVE EXPRESSION. complementING my architectural training, IT contributes to my personal sense of permanence and the need to be grounded.
My work illustrates broad and eclectic subject matter and themes:
A passion for adventure and travel, nature, yoga, meditation and mindfulness, and a curiosity about the world around me are the inspiration for the designs and images which I create.
I began this artistic journey to inspire a purposeful life for myself - that it has also done so for others is more than I could have hoped for.
I’m GRATEFUL to receive confirmation that I am on the right path. As I strive to achieve higher purpose for my art, my work serves to inspire, motivate and touch people on a personal and emotional level.
IT IS HUMBLING TO SHARE SOME OF THE TESTIMONIALS I HAVE RECEIVED:

"I am so grateful that you have chosen to share your incredible talents with the world around you! Because of the path that you have chosen, I have been able to give some of the pieces that you have created to others in my life. When people receive them as gifts, I can truly say that the response has been magical. There is love, healing energy and so much good karma in all of your works. Much love and so much gratitude! Namaste." ~ Melissa N.
“My sister LOVES her little Buddha. She said it was the best gift she has ever received and that it reminds her to meditate each morning, but also reminds her of the love we share. Thank you for brightening our spirits!” ~ Lilly N.
“Janis- O my God! This is truly incredible. Wow Wow Wow. I am deeply moved by the stone you created for my new yoga retreat. It will serve to create a sacred space and we are honored to have your wonderful karma and energy present.” ~ Jayadeva
“Not only is it what I envisioned, it’s better!!!! You took an idea and artistically made it into something I couldn't even have imagined trying to explain. That is the work of a TRUE artist. I don't think words can express how happy I am with the piece.” ~ Susan S.
